He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Nelson and Hazel Nelson; and his granddaughter Alison Horton. He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Lisa Horton (Nate), Diane Ross (Chet) and Jeff Nelson (Michelle); his grandchildren, John, Cristina, Matthew Horton, Sam, Gillian, Bridget Ross, Joseph and Lydia Nelson; and his siblings, Carl Nelson (Connie), Clara Olsen (Doug), Vera Merrell (Richard) and Joy Wingo (Bill).
