She was predeceased by: her mother LaRue Elizabeth Erickson; her son Kyle David Petersen; and her father Arnold Woodruff Miller. She is survived by: her husband Kyle W Petersen of Las Vegas, NV; her son Richard Kyle Petersen of Las Vegas, NV; her grandson Kyle Emery Petersen of Verona, WI; and her siblings, Arnold Woodruff Miller of Provo, UT, Pamela Miller and Richard Kim Miller of Alpine, UT.
Karen's battle with Alzheimer's began about 2008, She had excellent medical care at Emory University in Atlanta and then in 2012 when she moved to Santa Cruz CA at Stanford University. In 2015 she moved to Las Vegas and found excellent care at the Cleveland Clinic in Las Vegas which deals with Alzheimer's. In 2017 Karen had caregivers come to the home to be with her during the day.
