He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Hammar and Ella Pitcher Hammar; his wife Joan; his siblings, Sam, Glen and Mary; his grandson Ashton; and his great grandchild Este.

He is survived by: his children, Bryan Hammar (Ruth), Kari Daniels (David), Kirsten Griggs (Bob), Kathy Egbert (Justin) and Mark Hammar (Megan). He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
