He was predeceased by: his father Barney Johnston; and his siblings, Barney "Bud" Johnston Jr., Gene Johnston, Jack Johnston, Marjorie Schnabel and Mary Amos.
He is survived by: his children, Doug Johnston of Post Falls, ID and Kelly McBride of Coeur; and his siblings, Jim Johnston (Buelah) of St Maries and Jeanette Fatur of Spokane, WA.. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
