Steven Leon Littleford Obituary
Steven Leon Littleford passed on from this life Wednesday, August 4, 2021 after a tough fight against COVID-19. He was born December 21, 1955 to Royal E. and Barbara (Brillhart) Littleford. Steve was the oldest of four boys and never let his brothers forget it.
Steve graduated from Pocatello High School in 1973, completing his high school credits after his Junior year. He married Marcia Mendenhall in 1976 and had three children, they were later divorced. He met and married Amelia Navarette in 2012 and gained three bonus sons.
Steve started working when he was 12 by moving pipe on various local farms. Throughout his life he was a professional driver who worked at Maxway, Action Express, SAIA, Steve Littleford Trucking, and for the last six years of his life as a Bus Driver in the Amalgamated Transit Union at Idaho National Laboratory. Everywhere he went, Steve knew somebody and was friends with everyone.
Whether he was moving goods or people, Steve was proud of his excellent driving skills. Steve loved is co-workers and the many people he got to know throughout his career. Steve loved his family.
Every summer when his children were young, they would go camping with his parents and extended family. His children have fond memories of motorcycle rides in Antelope and Alder Creeks, where his beloved dog, Sparky, would run alongside for miles and miles. The sounds and smells of a chainsaw will always bring up memories of chopping wood for the campfire.
He was an avid fisherman, whether it was in a lake, a creek, or in a float tube. His children learned a strong work-ethic from Steve as they saw him work two jobs at many times during their childhood. Steve frequently told his children stories of his youth, which was highlighted by the time he raced a train in his new Pontiac Firebird.
Luckily, he wrecked the car before intersecting with the train. Anybody that rode his INL bus would have probably thought twice about boarding if they heard that story! Steve had a close group of friends from childhood that were very dear to him: Nate Stiggers, LaVelle Coulter, Rick Gardner, and the Sierra Brothers, Marcus and Mike.
After his marriage to Amelia they enjoyed traveling and trips to California. They talked of retirement and moving to the warmer California sunshine. Together they shared in the joy of their little dog, Mauvin Frederick.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara; his brother Mike (Teresa) Littleford; his three children Selina (Eric) Jones, Lynette (Rich) Sampson, and Wesley Littleford; his Wife, Amelia and her three children, Alex (Savannah) Navarette, Armando (Jessica) Navarette, and Estevan (Angela) Navarette; six grandchildren: Jacob (Nina) Jones, Kira (Ty) Clements, James and Gyllian Sampson; and Auri and Braxton Littleford; three great-grandchildren; and 12 bonus grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Royal; two brothers Ricky and Wesley; and a daughter-in-law, Diane. Due to current circumstances, there will be no service; however, an outdoor celebration of life is being planned for later in August.
Details will be posted as they become available. In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, a cause Steve supported for many years. The family asks that everyone that can please get vaccinated against this terrible disease.
