He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Atkinson and Rachel Atkinson; his siblings, Shirley Muirbrook, Gerald and Dennis Atkinson; his son Rickie Atkinson; his stepdaughter Karen Hansen; his grandchildren, Seth, Brandon Scott and Kristy Colungo; and his great grandchildren, Ellie Atkinson and Royce Ward.

He is survived by: his former spouse LaJuana Thomas; his wife Carolyn Williams; his children, Debra Scott (Tom) of Sandy, Utah, Ron Atkinson (Cyndi) of Sandy, Utah, Denise Deschamps (Quin) of Pocatello, Idaho, Brad Atkinson (Carol) of Hyde Park, Utah, Mike Atkinson (Lisa) of Malad and Josh Atkinson (Tiffany) of Hyde Park; and his stepchildren, Doyle Williams (Vickie), Troy Williams (Elizabeth), Rex Williams (Shelly), Brenda (John) and Violet Ann Briggs. He is also survived by 53 grandchildren, 103 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
