He is survived by: his wife Raynette; his children, Bill Jr. (Sharmila), Julie Nelson (Eric) and Scott (Laura); his grandchildren, Sara, Nikhil, Paige, Joe, Avik and Jack; and his sister Julie Henricksson (John).

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Minnesota Public Radio or Minnesota Public Television.
