He was predeceased by: his parents, Esther Lorraine and George W. Benson; his stepfather Paul Colley; his sisters, Jackie Shelton and Kathleen Thompson; his sons-in-law, Frank Carvell and Sam Barker; his siblings-in-law, Janet Bates, Tina Bates Jiminez, Nola Bates Christenson, Charlie Reed and Barry Tanner; his parents-in-law, Melburn "Bucky" Bates and Annebelle Bates; his grandchildren, Kurtis Haren, Gabriel Benson, Henry "Bubby" Hackett, Melissa Benson, Cecelia Hackett, Whitney Runyan and Amber Skalla; and his nephews, Lonnie Colley, Kevin Colley and Tyler Bates.
He is survived by: his wife Sherrie Benson; his children, George R. (Sue) of Woodlake, CA, Debbie of Klamath Falls, OR, Taunya (Kelly) of Seaside, OR, Tina (Kathy) of Malaga, WA, Esther, Pratrina of Oldtown, ID, Edna of Modesto, CA and Celah (Bob) of Idaho Falls, ID; and his siblings-in-law, Charlie Bates of Chiloquin, OR, Corinne Reed of Susanville, CA and Lisa Bates of Chiloquin, OR.. He is also survived by numerous other children; 31+ grandchildren; 40+ great-grandchildren; 5+ great-great-grandchildren.
