She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Elizabeth Hughes and Lloyd Rufus Hughes; her sons, Jerry Hess Jr. and Kelly Lee Hess; her sister Wanita Wood; and her grandchildren, Jentry Ann Dye and Sheldon James Dillon.

She is survived by: her children, Christy Jo Garner (Charles), Karen Lou Dillon (Sheldon), Steven Layne Hess and Mark Lewis Hess (Sussi); her husband Jerry Moser Hess; her daughter-in-law Cherie Hess; and her brother Joe Hughes. She is also survived by twenty four grandchildren, forty one great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

“Sorry to hear this. My family visited with her many years ago. Layne had been our missionary in Anaheim, California. She welcomed us with open arms. We appreciated her love and was very grateful to her son, Layne for baptisms of my three stepsons and their father. Please let him know that because of his efforts as a missionary, those three boys have remained faithful. One went on a mission, returned home and married in the Temple with three boys of his own. Thank you Sister Lynne (Drake) Palme”
