He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Trail and Louise Willman Trail. He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Smith; his sister Marilyn (Dale); and his children, Ruth, Mark (Lisa) and Steve (Debbie). He is also survived by six grandchildren.

His family has asked that anyone seeking to honor his memory do so in the form of a contribution to either of the following foundations.
