He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Gatlin and Helen Gatlin. He is survived by: his sister Linda Fricke; his children, Andrea Crosson (Kevin), Karen Gatlin (Mike Manley) and Alan Gatlin (Rhodora); and his grandchildren, Andrew McGraw, Ryan McGraw, Sofia Crosson and Kara Manley.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department.
