He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Deschamps of Washington and Elvira Jane Harrison; his wife Melba Ward; his children, Merlin Deschamps (Pat), Ogden, Sue Ann Robbins (Richard), Rosalie Silvester (Ned), Quin Deschamps (Denise), Deborah Reisner (Jerry), Brenda Daniels (Don), Michael Deschamps and Mark Malad (LeeAnn); his daughter-in-law Janet Deschamps; and his sons, Dennis and Tom. He was also cherished by 33 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, and 21 great-great -grandchildren.
