“Dear Smith family, Deepest condonlences to this wonderful family at the passing of this great man. Living across the street in my childhood, has given me many fond memories. Reed was a giant of a man that has left a lasting impression upon my soul and heart. Now he is in a new neighborhood in heaven visiting again with those who have passed before, including his old neighbors, my Mom and Dad. God bless until we meet again. Darlene Archibald Scott”

Bonnie Child wrote a sympathy message

“We want you to know how much we loved and respected your Dad. He was an amazing man. He lived through some tough times, and knew the value of hard work, trust, friendship, and faith. Whenever we were privileged to spend time with him, we left feeling better, feeling entertained (seriously, he could tell some great stories and jokes!) and enlightened on life. On a personal note, I just loved talking to him because he knew my dad . What a bond that gave us! I haven't talked to anyone who knew my dad in many years, and he had some great memories to share. The world is less one good man. He will be missed! My heart goes out to all of you great family members at this time. He will be missed, but has left such a legacy behind. I'm sure there is a grand reunion in heaven, and I'm sure he will be the best guardian angel there is!! Enjoy each memory you have of this great man, and know that he is watching out for each of you! With love, Bonnie Child”
