He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Rufus and Mary Alta Ball Barnes; his wife Kay Francis Schwendiman Barnes; and his siblings, Gene Barnes, Milton Barnes, Douglas Barnes and Norma Clark.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Kay Bates (Jerry) of Rigby, Idaho, Robert Alan Barnes (Julie) of Salem, Bradley James Barnes of Lewisville, Randal E. Barnes of St. Maries and Layne Schwendiman Barnes (Shelly) of Logan, Utah. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren.
