He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellen Beatrice Legarde Warner (Minnesota Chippewa Fond) and George Walking Shield Sr. (Hunkpapa Lakota); his wife Anna Mae; his son Gary; and his siblings, Merle, Ruth, Marvin, Richard, Dell Warner and George Walking Shield Jr..
He is survived by: his children, Cheryl, Donald Jr., Cathy, Gerald, Randy, Barb, Robert, Kenneth, Janet, Rodger and Howard; and his brother Darryl. He is also survived by great-grandchildren and friends.
His custom octagon picnic tables were a favorite at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation auction every year.
