He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Newell and Dorothy Newell (Boyer); and his children, Abel and Verle (Nancy Gribble). He is survived by: his former spouse Aloma Valerio; his children, Rick Newell (Debi), Ed Newell and Rusan Walsh (Mike); and his siblings, Ernie Newell, Joe Welling and Lorreta Rae. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Mullan Volunteer Fire Department.
