He was predeceased by: his mother Helen Lenore Metzger; his stepfather Gene Lancaster; and his siblings, Duane Legg, Elden Lancaster and Dixie Ford (Legg).

He is survived by: his significant other Ada Mobley; his sister Jeris Pierson (Legg); his children, Michael and Avis Starr-Grob; and his pet Dutch. He is also survived by great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
