He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Schanz and Beryl Schanz; and his grandson Carter Schanz. He is survived by: his wife Judy of Iona; his children, Casey Schanz (Rachel) of Clancy, Shannivee Frasure (Andy) of Kaysville, Shocis Baldwin (Andy) of Chandler, Shaeleigh Trimble (Jared) of Iona and Sheandi Richins (Cody) of Ammon; and his brother Donald Schanz (Sonja) of Idaho Falls, Idaho. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren.
