He was predeceased by: his parents, George Washington Matthews and Mary Ann Bush; his siblings, Donna Allen and Dean Matthews; and his grandson Josh Cutler.

He is survived by: his daughters, Shanna Neeser (Kurt), Teresa Benavidez (Art) and Janene Matthews; his wife Rosalie Jayne; and his grandchildren, Tiffany Larsen, Matt Neeser, Brooke Butterfield, Dakota Cutler, Zane Mowers, Rhett Mowers and Tanner Mowers.
