He was predeceased by: his daughter Joan Ella; and his grandson Wyatt Daniel. He is survived by: his wife Lola Jean; his children, Fred (Cecilia), Mike (Rita), Carl (Bonnie), Jack (Lisa), Judy Granden (Will) and Jana Orchard (Kim); and his siblings, Mick Porter, Delores Yehle and Carolyn Wright. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
