Merlin L. Wilkins Obituary
We are sad to announce that on September 24, 2018, at the age of 89, Merlin L. Wilkins (Grangeville, Idaho) passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Merlin L. Wilkins to pay them a last tribute.
He is survived by: his parents, Lester M Wilkins and Eva C Wilkins (Long); and his spouse Monica "Ruthie" Uhlenkott.
He knew the true meaning of "make hay while the sun shines. As the story goes, about the only time Merlin shut down the harvest operation early was the evening his twin grandsons were born. He was asked why he was quitting so early. His comment was "it's not everyday a guy gets two grandsons, this calls for a cold one." He is survived by daughter Carmen Wilkins Rightmire (Jerry Rightmire) of Marysville WA, grandsons Andrew Wilkins Parker and Stuart Wilkins Parker of Mill Creek WA, brother Ted Wilkins (Mary) of Grangeville, sister in law Patricia U Hagen of Boise and brother in law Jim Uhlenkott (Lynne) of Kamiah and numerous nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 49 years, his parents, one niece and older sister Jeanie Wilkins Greenrod. At his request cremation will take place and his remains will be interred at Prairie View Cemetery in Grangeville. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers or monetary contribution to a favorite charity, the family asks that you shake the hand of a veteran, current military person or member of our Law Enforcement and thank them for their service.
