She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Smith and Dorothy Woodward; her husband Paul Mendiola; her granddaughter Katie Fritts; her son-in-law Jack Walchel; her siblings, Dick Smith and Mildred Arriola; her brothers-in-law, Danny Arriola, Larry Mendiola and Bob Anderson; and her nephew William Arriola.

She is survived by: her children, Dennis Mendiola (Glenda), Steve Mendiola (Kim), Paula Fritts (Steve), Pam Morris (Jeff), Patricia Perrin (Jeff) and John Mendiola (Terrie); her grandchildren, Tim Belisle (Debbie), Jason Mendiola, Jennifer Deveney (Glenn), Michael Jacobs (Taylor), Luke Fritts (Bradi), Cassandra Stelljes (Karl), Tiffany Vannoy (Dan), Callie Jackson, Amanda Perrin, MariJo Maybon (Shawn), Juliann Edmunson (Dane), Pamela Schlager (Michael), Adam Mendiola (Kashlee), Ty Ingram (Christina) and Jacqueline (Benjamin Palmer); her brother Sonny Smith (Judy); and her siblings-in-law, George Mendiola (Carol), Dottie Mendiola and Joan Anderson. She is also survived by 43 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

The family asks that memorials be made to Malheur County Fairgrounds and The Ronald McDonald House.
