He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Rains and Meta Rains; his son-in-law Rick Martin; and his great grandchild Jude Meyers. He is survived by: his wife Geraldine; his sister Betty Martz; his half-sister Kathy Hoefer (Mike); and his children, Randy (Beth), Barb Martin, Rick (Julie), Ron (Zoe) and Beth Rains. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 ½ great-grand children, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
