He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth North and Leona Adeline Gresham Birch (Gresham); his son Taggart Leigh Birch; his siblings, Kenneth Gresham Birch and Marva Kay Oakey (Birch); and his grandson Braxton Jay Birch.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Schaat Birch; his brothers-in-law, Gerald Oakey and Larry Schaat (Betty); and his sons, Dustin Scott Birch (Wendi), Brody Jon Birch (Amanda) and Barton Birch (Jill). He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
