He was predeceased by: his parents, Giuseppe Abate and Calogera Amato Abate; his wife Lois Read Abate; and his siblings, Leonard, Samuel, Joseph, Louis, Santa and Mary.
He is survived by: his sons, Charles (Christine) of Syracuse, NY, Joseph (Kathi) of Coeur d'Alene, ID, Richard (Cora) of Shavertown, PA and Murnal (Elizabeth) of Montrose, PA; his grandchildren, Roberta, Sarah-Jane (Dustin), Joseph, Alexandra (Sean) and Richard; his great grandchild PJ; and his sister-in-law Jenny Sanglimbeni Abate. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
