He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellen Susana Hillberg and Edwin Einer Paananen; his daughter Elizabeth "Beth" Paananen; and his grandparents, John, Ida Paananen, Isaac and Wendy Hillberg.
He is survived by: his wife Dora Paananen; his son James "Jim" Paananen; his siblings, Robert "Mike" Paananen (Judy) and Eunice; his stepdaughters, Irene Kraushaar (Ron), Sandra Darrah (Mark) and Brenda Utley (Christian); and his stepgrandchildren, Brandon Henry, Jessica Maynard (Chris), Jennifer Madrigal, Alexa Pulley (Nick), Carlee Miller and Kaitlyn Miller. He is also survived by eight step great grandchildren.
