He was predeceased by: his parents, Hester Fries and Mills Fries; his stepfather John L. Bates; and his brother Russell Fries. He is survived by: his brother Barry Fries; his sister-in-law Jacquelyn Fries; his stepsisters, Leigh Olshan, Nina Bates and Mimi Pantuhova; his nieces, Gwyneth Marcelo, Kelsey Zedwick and Leslie Morton; and his nephew Tom Fries. He is also survived by two grand-nieces and 4 grand-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any organization dedicated to nurturing the planet.
