Patty Lou Gregory Obituary
Patty Lou (Gamble) Gregory, fondly referred to by many as Nan or Nanny, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5 at the age of 94 in Boise Idaho.
Patty was born November 30, 1929 at home in Payette, Idaho, to Don and Mabel Gamble. She was raised in Payette and in Boise and graduated from Boise High School in 1947.
She shared a passion for the family's Harley business. She was one of the few women that during her era was passionate about riding motorcycles, especially Harleys, often the only female on group rides.
On May 11, 1947 Patty married Keith A. Kelley.
Two children were born of this marriage, Connie D Smith and Karen L. Kelley-Sass.
In 1961 the family moved to Twin Falls.
When asked what were the things in life most important to her, she would respond "the luxury of being able to stay at home to raise my children".
Patty would later begin a career in the real estate industry until retiring in 1986 when she returned to Boise after the passing of her mother in order to be with her Dad. Both her daughters and their children also moved to Boise to be closer.
Patty was a remarkable person with a personality that everyone enjoyed being around. She was the first to lend a helping hand in any situation. She had a talent for creating arrangements, decorating her home, crocheting, knitting, sewing, canning, baking, seeking out garage and estate sales and cake decorating. Patty enjoyed playing golf not only in summer but also playing with bright colored balls and using the winter greens as long as the course was open. She was an active member of the Ladies of Elks. She assisted her father while he served as the oldest President of an Optimist Club. Patty's joy was hosting large annual picnics for birthdays, Owyhee Motor Cycle Club and Optimist Club.
Patty prioritized family and did her best not to miss out on any special occasion or activity helping with grandchildren and greatgrandchildren as much as possible.
Patty is survived by two daughters, Connie D Smith and Karen L. Kelley-Sass; three grandchildren Sandra (Jason) Forst, Terrance J. Smith and Kelley N. Sass; three great grandchildren Hunter Forst, Christian Forst and Madison Forst, sister Pamela A. Turner, two nephews Mark A. (Johnette) Turner of Philadelphia and Stephen (Christine) Turner of Philadelphia.
