He was predeceased by: his parents, Mathias Wagner and Clara Wagner (Gehler); his wife Mary Wagner (Sweeney); and his siblings, Rita Hartman, Aggie Williamson and Dick Wagner.
He is survived by: his children, Mike Wagner (Terri) of Sycamore, IL, Marty Wagner (Dawn) of Dubuque, Mark Wagner (Jan) of La Motte, Mary Kay Haverland (Terry Louie) of Dubuque and Matt Wagner (Amy) of La Motte; his grandchildren, Trent (Jenny), Jason (Lamia Bharmal), Benjamin (Jessica), Brandon (Hannah Brecht), Brock, Jackson, Alivia and Gracyn Wagner; and his great grandchildren, Trestan, Kyla, Cameron, Arabella and Iris. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers a Merlin Wagner memorial fund has been established.
