He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Ahlers and Edna Ahlers (Klein); his wife Darlene K. "Kay" Tobin of Worthington; his siblings, Lawrence Ahlers (Mary), Marcille Pins (Laverne) and Janice Geers; and his siblings-in-law, Gladys Jaeger (Robert), Del Rose Ostwinkle (Ernie), Shirley Rave (Gilbert), Sylvester Tobin, Alfred Jr. Tobin (Anna Mae) and Clarence Althoff.
He is survived by: his children, Carey Ahlers Jr. (Deana) of Worthington, Curt Ahlers (Angie) of Marion, Crystal Thompson (Rick) of Cedar Rapids, Carmen (Rod Friedlein) of Dyersville and Cher Brimeyer (Craig) of Farley; his grandchildren, Ashley, Courtney, Dean, Josh, Jesse, Nicole, Tiffany, Tyler, Alivia, Brandon, Brooke and Ellie; his great grandchildren, Ariah, Bentley, Oliver, Selena, Mia, Jackson, Kennedy, Jaylinn, Rayne, Ivy Rose and Stella; and his sister-in-law Margie Althoff of Manchester. He is also survived by 2 step grandchildren; and 6 step great grandchildren.
