He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross Smith and Marie Smith (Henneberg); his wife Judy Christensen; his brother Bob Smith; his parents-in-law, Hans and Amanda Christensen; and his siblings-in-law, Harold Pine, Delbert Christensen (Edna), Mert Christensen (Marcella), Duane Littleton, Gene Andrews, Wilbur Berger, LaVeda Pine and Shirley Christensen.
He is survived by: his children, Shane Smith (Diana) of Anita, IA, Shad Smith (Jill) of Papillion, NE, Shannon Ryan (Rick) of Atlantic, IA and Shala Smith of Marion, IA.; his grandchildren, Kelsey Walhovd (Gavin), Bailey Smith, Makaye Hamilton (Lucas), Shalyn Parker (Josh), Austin Ryan (Katie), Payton Anderson (Tanner), Noah Smith, Cole Smith and Reghan Smith; his great grandchildren, Oakley, Roscoe, Nellie Walhovd, Terra, Teagan, Tinzley Anderson, Theo, Eloise Hamilton and Ryan; his sister Karen Berger of Atlantic, IA; and his siblings-in-law, Gary Christensen (Jan) of Anita, IA, Bonnie Littleton of Atlantic, IA, LaDonna Andrews of Anita, IA and Glenda Smith of Whitefish, MT.
