He was predeceased by: his parents, Sylvester M. Adams and Helen B. Adams (Henry); his son James Adams Jr.; his siblings, William Adams and Helen Madigan; and his close friend Roger Lohse.
He is survived by: his children, Jason Adams of Dubuque, IA, Jolene Adams of Dubuque, IA and Justin Adams (Tasha) of Dubuque, IA; his grandchildren, Jayden Goodendorf, Caiden Adams, Braiden Adams, Maggie Stache, Alexis Goodendorf, Trenton Goodendorf, Madeline Folks, Peyton Adams, Amelia Adams and Britton Adams; his great grandchild Everleigh; his nephew Randy Madigan; and his great-nephew Tyler.
