With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elsie Jane Cates of Winterset, Iowa, who passed away on February 24, 2023 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Daniel Begley and Nellie Himmell Begley; her husband Raymond Leslie Cates; and her siblings, Harvey, Harold, Ray Begley, Helen Miller, Marjorie Wilson, Mildred Hoenes, Rosalie Boschert, Mary McPike, Ruth Sexton and Jean Harrison.
She is survived by: her children, Janelle McGinnis of Oklahoma City, OK, Rhonda Oviatt (Bill) of Winterset, IA, Jeffrey Cates of Soldotna, AK and Steve Cates (Sheri) of New Windsor, MD; her grandchildren, Justin Peters of Quincy, IL, Erin McGinnis Hazelwood (Ross) of Oklahoma City, OK, Stacy Cates (Greg) of Anchorage, AK and Jeremiah Cates (Jen) of Kenai, AK; and her great grandchildren, Ethan, Evan Cates of Kenai, AK, Edie and James Hazelwood of Oklahoma City, OK. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or Spurgeon Manor.
