She was predeceased by: her father Kenneth Irwin; and her sister Annette. She is survived by: her mother Lois Truesdale Irwin; her husband Vincent Tate; her children, Jennifer Zeman (David Brushaber) and Michael Tate; and her brothers, Douglas Irwin (Tracy), Jeffrey Irwin (Leslie) and Jayson Irwin (Cindy).

Memorials may be made to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa.
