He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto Geering and Margaret Geering (Papai); his wife Bonnie; and his sister Louise Jurek. He is survived by: his children, Stephen Geering (Gina) of Blue Grass, Laura Johannsen (Richard) of Bryceville, Cheryl Stavana (Jack), Dr. Deborah Geering-Fend (Helmut) of Redondo Beach, Kathryn Martin (Mitchel) of Oxford Junction and Dr. Jill Matheson (John) of Douglas, Alaska; his grandchildren, Joshua Geering (Melissa), Jason Geering (Erika), Alisha Ware (Shane), Grace Geering, Kristel Bandisch (Dana) of Heidi Hess, A. J., Jake Stavana (Shaunna), Michael Fend, Julie Martin (Ryan Trenkamp), Adam Martin (Kellie), Kayla Martin, Alexander Otto Matheson (Kimberly) and Jamie Oliphant (Brant); and his great grandchildren, Luke, Mattias, Sarai, Elizabeth, Asher, Austin, Isaac, Reagan, Annabelle, Cannon, Henry, Otto, Reid, Emilia, Baer, Sage, Jayde, Tyler, Addison, Amelia and Shayne.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Andrew Catholic Church (333 W Lotte St, Blue Grass, IA 52726). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School.
