He was predeceased by: his parents, Delmar Carter and Elizabeth Carter (Steenhard); and his sister Adele Scott. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Dickson of Williams; his children, Joy Cross (David) of Alden, Michelle Carter of Williams and David Carta (Tera) of Williams; his brother Lew Carter (Kathy); his grandchildren, Jordyn (Jared), Jaidyn (Cody), Jerryn (Andrew), Justyn Jaislyn (Jackie), Jaydrionna (Jacob), Joshua, Jackson, Julianna, Juliette, Jevon, Leigha (Kota), Donavon, Peyton, Hayes and Ary; his stepgrandchildren, Isiah (Nina), James, Kayla and Lance; his great grandchildren, Emersyn, Kennedy, Adalynn, Ava and Noah; and his close friend Taz.
