He was predeceased by: his parents, John T. Schmitz and Anna Schmitz (Hackfort); and his siblings, Leone Kitt, Rose Gross, Marie Werner, Louise Kennebeck, Helen Schmitz, Leo, Louis, Edward and Paul "Pat" Schmitz.
He is survived by: his sister-in-law Betty Schmitz of Carroll. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
