He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Garmoe and Lucille Garmoe (Thompson). He is survived by: his wife Margie Pollmeier; his children, Kathryn E. Garmoe of Waterloo and Preston Garmoe (Clarissa Sanchez) of Solon, Iowa; his grandchildren, Lydia, Isaac and Gideon Garmoe; and his siblings, Russell Eugene Garmoe (Sabine) of Temple, Texas, Evelyn Calvert (Gary) of Argyle, Debra Susan Garmoe of Fort Madison and Cheryl Velinda Baumgart of Hockley, Texas..

A memorial has been established in his memory for Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center or PAWS Animal Shelter.
