He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Steffensmeier and Caroline Steffensmeier (Rippenkroeger); his wife Phyllis Schierbrock; his daughter-in-law Jeanne; his grandson Adam; and his siblings, Elmer, John, Carl and Mary.
He is survived by: his sons, David J. Steffensmeier (Carrie) of Nauvoo and Michael G. Steffensmeier of Duluth, Georgia; his grandchildren, Holly Thompson (Jonathon), Kara Tweedy and Morgan Gonzalez (Jason); his great grandchildren, Chase, Noah, Zac, Quinn Thompson, Charlotte Tweedy, Lonzo, Siena Gonzalez and Bryant Steffensmeier; and his sisters-in-law, Rita Steffensmeier and Betty Frey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
