She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. S. P. Holtz and Elinor Catherine Holtz (Winnike); her husband James J. Groene; her son-in-law John Bremekamp; her great grandchild Reagan Hulsebus; and her siblings, Lester Holtz, Lucy Vonderhaar and Rozella Freitag.
She is survived by: her daughters, Jeanne Bremekamp of Belize, Central America, Janet Benjamin (Bill) of Donnellson and Joyce Meierotto (Bill) of West Point, Iowa; and her brothers, Carl Holtz (Rita) of West Point and Delmar Holtz of St. Joseph, Missouri.. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren.
A memorial has been established in her memory for West Point American Legion Holtz - Geers Post #668 or Calvary Cemetery.
