He is survived by: his wife Teresa Sallen of West Point; his son Joseph Sallen (Samantha) of West Point; his siblings, Danny Sallen (Doris) of Donnellson, Charlene Sallen (Larry Kuhlmeier) of Fort Madison and Mary Ann Moeller (Richard) of Houghton; his grandchildren, Sara, Gabrielle, Mason and Hope; and his nieces and nephews, Anthony Moeller, Michele Hand and Andrew Moeller.
