He was predeceased by: his parents, Larry Baldus and Marie Baldus (Turbett); his wife Jane Ryan; and his brother-in-law Bill Brooks. He is survived by: his daughter Becky Jacobus (Herb) of Overland Park, KS; his granddaughters, Sara Jacobus and Emily Almai (Matt); his son Rob Baldus (Bonnie) of Indianola; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Ferraro (Andrew), Alec Baldus (Kathryn Greer), Isaac and Eric Baldus; his son Pat Baldus (Dena); his grandchildren, Rebecca, Clark, Jennifer and Jason Baldus; his daughter Kimberly Barker (Kevin) of Nevada; his grandchildren, Jade Dean (Clay) and Trinity Barker; and his siblings, Jerry Baldus (Kay) of Scottsdale, AZ and Mary Kay Brooks of Ankeny. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and a village of friends.

Memorials may be made to the American Brittany Rescue or the Des Moines Art Center.
