He was predeceased by: his parents, Loren Vaught and Bernice Vaught (Bridges); his former wife Patricia Sue Lemons; and his siblings, Robert Vaught and Emma Alice Vaught Admire (Sug).
He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his children, Megan Vaught (Melanie Sullivan) of Minneapolis, MN, R. Niles Vaught (Jean) of Spartanburg, SC, Barbara Carothers (Ken) of Charleston, SC, Mary Vaught of Sioux City, IA, Christine Svec (Dusty) of Cumming, IA and Kimberly Rogowski (Gary) of Fenton, MO; his grandchildren, Andrew Ward, Zachary Gillespie, Morgan (Lola Svec) and William Sullivan (Stella Rogowski); and his siblings, Joseph Vaught and Barbara Paris.
