He was predeceased by: his former wife Martha Ann Kirke (Kewpie); his wife Preceding; his parents, Philip Dorweiler and Jennie Dorweiler; and his daughter Nancy Johnson (George).
He is survived by: his children, Kirke Dorweiler (Beth), Robert Dorweiler (Jody) of Urbandale and Mary Ann Gordon (Chris) of Riva, Maryland.; and his close friend Liz Frink. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Phil wished that contributions be made to the Edgewater Retirement Facility Good Samaritan fund.
