She was predeceased by: her parents, Verna Vaughan (Schouten) and Leslie Vaughan; and her husband Ken. She is survived by: her former husband Kenneth Gene Walter; her sister Dorothy Park of Eugene, Ore.; and her children, Gerry Walter (Becky Roach) of Champaign, Ill, Carol Walsh (Ian) of Corvallis, Bruce Walter of Carpinteria, Calif, Dan Walter (Margie), Mark Walter (Christine) of Urbandale and Catherine Herring (Brian) of Bellingham, Wash.. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She requested there be no local service or flowers, but she would be honored by memorial contributions made in her name to Ericson Public Library in Boone, the Iowa Arboretum near Madrid or the Boone County Hospital Auxiliary.
