Westergaard Sr. (West Des Moines, Iowa), born in Des Moines, Iowa, who passed away at the age of 70, on November 1, 2023. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Gene Westergaard and Elvera Westergaard (Erquist); his wife Suzanne "Sam"; his children, Mark Jr. (Holly) and Jessica McLeran (Mike); his grandchildren, Kayla, Emma, Nora and Mark III; his brother Neal (Linda); his nieces, Emily Westergaard (Chris) and Sara Hopkins (Marc); his mother-in-law Donna Bastian (Rex); his sisters-in-law, Diane Gascon (Andy), Julie Bastian (Trip Dupelle) and Linda Marquis (Matt); and the mother of his children Marilee. He was also cherished by extended family members and dear friends.

The family would like to thank the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Lung Transplant Team, American Lung Association, MercyOne Main 5 North team and the EveryStep staff at the Kavanaugh House for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Food Bank of Iowa.
