He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Hackbarth and Ruth Hackbarth (Sheppard); and his wife Harriet. He is survived by: his children, Holly Trulson, Hal Hackbarth (Alison) and Heather Hackbarth; and his grandchildren, Broderick Trulson, Samuel Hackbarth (Makayla Buck), Elizabeth Trulson, Daniel Hackbarth, Benjamin Trulson and Joel Hackbarth. He is also survived by other loving family members and friends.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer society Russell and Ann Gerdin Hope Lodge, Iowa City, or the NRA as a nod to his love of hunting and shooting sports.
