He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Goldsmith and Helen Goldsmith (Kirkwood); his wife Peggy Humeston; his brother Kay; and his parents-in-law, Dwight and Mary Humeston.

He is survived by: his children, Peter Andrew Goldsmith (Carol), Paul Matthew Goldsmith (Leslie), Philip James Goldsmith (Julie), Thomas John Goldsmith (Kelly) and Mary Regina Graham (Chris); his grandchildren, Karen Goldsmith Johnson (Luke), Mark Goldsmith, Bryan Goldsmith (Kate), Rebecca Goldsmith (Rajee Harris), Nick Goldsmith, Amanda Goldsmith, Emma Goldsmith, Ally Goldsmith, Evan Carver and Abby Carver; and his great grandchildren, Rose, Lincoln Johnson, Blake and Drew Goldsmith.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Augustin Catholic School, Dowling Catholic High School or Des Moines Area Religious Council.
