He was predeceased by: his parents, J. I. and Hazel Summers (Snook); his sister Marjorie; his brother-in-law Paul Burgess; and his son-in-law Mark Dauterive.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Van Hal; his children, Joan, Jim Summers (Debra) of Solana Beach, CA, Joy Dauterive of Urbandale, IA, John Summers (Kathy), Jay Summers and Jennifer Gray (Eric) of Sunnyvale, CA; and his siblings, Verle "Bud" Summers (Pat) and Jeanne Kimler (Bill). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Crossroads Prison Ministries or the Alzheimers Assocation.
