He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Duward Staples and Margaret Staples (Tramp); his wife Dee; his children, Dr. Kimberly Staples (Craig Paulson) of Grinnell and Bret Staples (Jill) of Saline, MI; his grandsons, Noah Brennan, Avery Brennan, Adam Brennan, Hunter Staples and Spencer Staples; and his sister Diane Roupe.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blank Children's Hospital in Des Moines.
